Getting to Powell River

By plane


By air, Powell River is a 25 minute hop from Vancouver and offers amazing views of the coast. Taxi service from the airport will get you to the Island View in about 15 minutes. Automobile rentals are also available.

By car

Enjoy a beautiful, scenic drive up the Sunshine Coast. The drive, including two BC Ferry sailings, takes about 5 hours. Take the ferry at Horseshoe Bay to Langdale (45 minutes), then drive the 80 km (50 miles) along Highway 101 to Earl’s Cove. The second ferry crossing (50 minutes) takes you to Saltery Bay and the Powell River region. A leisurely 30 – 45 minute drive brings you to the Historic Townsite.

You can also arrive from Vancouver Island by taking Comox/Little River – Powell River ferry. It’s crossing time is about 75 minutes.

Getting to the Island View Lodge

From Saltery Bay ferry terminal

From the terminal, follow the highway north for 35.7 km to the Historic Townsite, all the while traveling along Hwy 101 — it becomes Marine Avenue within the municipality of Powell River. We are at 6255 Marine Avenue, next door to the Granada Restaurant, just past the Patricia Theatre.

 




From Westview ferry terminal


Coming off the ferry, turn left at the first light onto Marine Avenue and follow that street right to the Historic Townsite (about 3 km). The Island View Lodge is 4.9 km from the light.
